Botanical (latin) name: | Sheperdia argentea |
---|---|
Zone | 2 |
Description:
Very hardy shrub. This interesting shrub has thorny silver bark and very twisted irregular branching habits. It produces deep red, pectin rich fruit used for making jelly. The berries were also used to make a foam similar to whip cream, as well as to flavor buffalo meat. Frost sweetens the berries. Eating large amount of these berries is not recommended, as they can cause stomach upset or discomfort. |
