Description:
The Heyer #12 apple is a prolific producer of medium size, light green/yellow apples that are great for cooking pies, crisps and tarts. The apple is very tart and the taste is disagreeable for some who eat the apples right off the tree. The apple is also very thinned skinned and bruises easily and does not keep for a long time in storage. Like all high latitude hardy apple trees, the Heyer 12 Apple grows to about 20 feet tall, has white non fragrant blossoms that appear just as the leaves are breaking bud. The dark green leaves that turn orange in the fall. The Heyer 12 is an early season apple that requires a different apple variety as a cross pollinator to produce fruit. Since it is a early season tree, it can only cross with a different variety of early or mid season apples. Size: 5-7 cm Harvest: Mid August storage: 2 weeks |
